Chapter 14 - Blood in the Boardroom

The news hit the international wire like an economic tsunami at 9:00 AM the following morning.
*BREAKING: Sterling Enterprises Targeted in Historic Hostile Takeover; Disgraced Former CEO Victoria Sterling Reportedly Released on Secret Medical Bail.*
Inside the Sterling Tower boardroom on Wall Street, the atmosphere was thick with palpable panic. Board members were screaming into encrypted phones, trading terminals were flashing frantic crimson drops, and half of the major institutional investors were dumping their holdings in panic.
Julian kicked open the double doors of the boardroom, his tailored suit spotless, though the cold, unyielding fury in his eyes silenced the room in an instant. Elena walked beside him, commanding the room with sheer aristocratic poise, holding a leather dossier of classified financial warrants.
"Sit down, every single one of you," Julian commanded, slamming his palm onto the long mahogany table. The tremor rattled the crystal glasses.
"Julian, the stock is down forty percent in pre-market trading!" yelled Henderson, the senior director. "Someone dumped eighty million shares through an unregistered European hedge fund called *Ouroboros Holdings*. They’re executing a margin squeeze! By noon, we will lose majority control of the board!"
"Ouroboros Holdings isn't European," Elena announced, stepping to the head of the table and slinging the dossier open. Her voice was steady, magnetic, cutting through the chaos. "It’s a shell entity registered to an account created thirty years ago by Edward Sterling and Victoria Sterling. They are artificially shorting our stock to force a margin call on the charity foundation’s endowment."
"And which one of you rats opened the backdoor to our trading terminal?" Julian whispered, his gaze sweeping across the trembling executives.
He stopped directly behind Henderson.

"Julian, what are you implying?" Henderson stuttered, beads of sweat dripping down his temple.
Julian leaned down, whispering in Henderson’s ear. "I’m implying that your offshore account in Zurich just received a wire transfer of fifty million dollars at 3:15 AM—the exact time our penthouse was breached." Julian grabbed Henderson by the lapels, dragging the elderly executive out of his chair and slamming him against the floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking the city. "Sign the voting proxy back to Elena, or I let gravity decide your severance package."
