Chapter 50 - The Genesis Detonation

Julian felt his soul shatter at the sight.

Four identical copies of Lily—Specimens 4-Beta, 4-Gamma, 4-Delta, and 4-Epsilon—stood in an unbroken defensive perimeter around the master terminal, their weapons pointed directly at Julian and Beatrice with terrifying, steady precision.

"Put down your weapons," the four girls spoke in unison, their voices perfectly harmonized into a chilling, polyphonic chorus. "The Architect’s will cannot be revoked."

Beatrice’s gun lowered an inch. Her single eye widened, her face trembling with a horrific conflict she had never anticipated. "They're hardwired directly into the central CPU. If we engage them, the defensive protocol will force them to return fire."

"Julian..." a weak, trembling voice whispered from his chest.

Julian looked down.

Lily’s eyes were open.

The luminescent, shifting code had vanished from her hazel irises. For the first time in hours, her gaze was clear, human, and brimming with terrifying lucidity. But her skin was translucent, cold as marble, and her breathing was shallow, wet, and ragged.

"Lily... baby, hold on," Julian sobbed, sinking to his knees on the sterile tile floor. "Daddy’s here. I’m right here."

"Daddy... I hear them," Lily whispered, her small, trembling fingers reaching up to touch the scar Julian had carved into her chest. "I hear all of them. My sisters... they're screaming inside their heads. The bad man... he’s pushing them down into the dark..."

"Lily, stay with me!" Julian pleaded, tears dripping from his jaw onto her forehead.

"I can stop him, Daddy," she whispered.

Julian’s breath stopped. "What?"

"The mark... the red light..." Lily turned her gaze toward the massive liquid-nitrogen column in the center of the room. "Beatrice didn't just cut the wire three years ago. She put a door inside me. A secret door."

On the raised platform, Claire’s face suddenly drained of color.

"What did she say?" Claire gasped, her fingers frantically flying across the keyboard, checking the low-level firmware logs. "That’s impossible! Beatrice didn't have access to the root directory!"

"She didn't need the directory, you corporate whore," Beatrice growled, a wild, savage grin breaking through her scarred lips. "I carried that child for three years! I wrote my own virus into the scar tissue!"

"Lily, no!" Julian cried, realizing instantly what was happening. "If you open that feedback loop, the current will blow your heart!"

"If I don't, Daddy... they die," Lily whispered, her tears warm against Julian’s cold fingers. "And I won't be me anymore anyway."

Before Julian could lock his arms around her, Lily pressed both of her hands firmly against the silvery surgical scar over her breastbone.

She closed her eyes.

Beneath her skin, the light ignited once more.

But it was no longer red.

It flared into a blinding, incandescent, brilliant violet—the color of pure, unbridled electrical plasma.

Across the room, the four identical girls suddenly dropped their weapons. They collapsed to their knees in unison, clutching their heads, gasping for air as their dilated pupils snapped back to normal hazel. The cognitive override holding their minds hostage shattered in a single, devastating pulse of bioelectric feedback.

"NO!" Claire shrieked, slamming her fists onto the console as the computer screens turned solid crimson with cascading critical error alerts:

**"CRITICAL SYSTEM ERROR: ROGUE NODE DETECTED. BIOMETRIC OVERLOAD AT 400 PERCENT."**

**"COMMENCING EMERGENCY LIQUIDATION PROTOCOL."**

The ground beneath their feet violently shuddered.

Deep within the bedrock beneath the manor, the heavy containment sirens began to howl—a mechanical, automated death knell that vibrated the concrete floorboards:

**"FACILITY SELF-DESTRUCT INITIATED. BLAST DOORS SEALING IN SIXTY SECONDS."**

Heavy, six-inch-thick titanium blast doors began slamming down from the ceiling with catastrophic crashes, cutting off the stairwells, the elevator shafts, and the perimeter exits one by one.

*SLAM! SLAM!*

"Julian, move!" Beatrice screamed, lunging forward, scooping up two of the freed clone girls under her arms. "The reactor under the conservatory is going critical!"

Julian grabbed Lily, pulling her into his chest, and sprinted toward the final blast door leading to the external loading tunnel.

Behind them, Claire pulled an emergency override lever on the master console. The massive column of liquid nitrogen shattered with a deafening sonic boom, showering the operating room in freezing vapor and high-voltage electrical arcs.

Julian reached the threshold of the heavy blast door just as it groaned, descending rapidly from the ceiling.

He threw Lily through the narrowing gap into Beatrice’s waiting arms on the other side.

"Get her out!" Julian roared.

"Julian, jump!" Beatrice screamed over the deafening blare of the sirens.

Julian dropped to slide through the gap—

A hand, cold, bleeding, and iron-strong, seized his tactical boot from behind.

Claire, her clothes shredded, her face bloody, dragged him backward onto the cold tiles of the doomed operating theater.

"If the Vance dynasty burns," Claire hissed, her bloody face contorted into a monstrous, manic grin, "you burn with us, Julian!"

*SLAM!*

The four-ton titanium blast door slammed shut with finality, locking from the outside with the hiss of permanent vacuum seals.

Julian was trapped.

Inside the sealed chamber, the countdown clock on the central screen reached:

**"00:10... 00:09... 00:08..."**

Through the reinforced, eight-inch bulletproof glass window of the blast door, Lily pressed her small, trembling palms against the glass, screaming soundlessly into the void, her tears washing through the soot on her cheeks.

Julian dragged himself to the glass, pressing his own bloody palm against hers.

"I love you, Lily," he mouthed through the soundproof barrier.

And then, on the control panel beside Julian’s head, a hidden, previously dormant terminal flickered to life.

A single video feed appeared.

It wasn't a broadcast from Blackwood Manor.

It was a live camera feed looking into a sterile, white nursery located thousands of miles away—in a modern skyscraper high above Tokyo.

In the nursery, sitting quietly in a crib, a baby girl turned to look directly into the camera.

Her hazel eyes blinked.

And from her tiny chest, beneath her white infant onesie, a bright, rhythmic red light began to flash.

*Blink.*

*Blink.*

*Blink.*

A computerized voice whispered through Julian’s dying earpiece:

May you like

*"Generation Five is already online, Julian. Did you really think you could kill a god?"*

**"00:03... 00:02... 00:01..."**
