Chapter 20 - The Five Words That Shook Eternity

The medical record was dated twenty-nine years ago, from a private fertility sanctuary in the Swiss Alps.
It was a classified, sealed maternal surrogate log.
Julian’s gaze locked onto the name of the biological mother who carried the child. It wasn't Clara Sterling. Clara had been medically sterile since adolescence; her medical records had been entirely fabricated by the Sterling empire to maintain the illusion of an unbroken succession.
The surrogate mother—the woman who had biologically conceived and given birth to Clara's lineage, the woman who shared the true, unadulterated genetic code with little Leo—was listed under her true legal maiden name:
*Eleanor Vance-Blackwood.*
Julian’s own mother.
Julian’s hand began to shake violently, the paper rattling against the cold marble of the crypt.
He turned his head slowly toward Archibald, who was coughing up dark blood, laughing with a sickening, triumphant hysteria.
"Do you understand now, Julian?" Archibald mocked, his voice bubbling with madness and satisfaction. "Clara didn't find that boy by accident! She didn't adopt a stranger! Leo isn't your adopted son. And he isn't my grandson."
Archibald leaned in, his lips curling into the most venomous smile Julian had ever seen, whispering the five devastating words that tore Julian Blackwood’s entire soul apart:
*"He is your younger brother."*
Outside the mausoleum, a sudden, blinding flash of lightning lit up the stormy sky, followed by a deafening clap of thunder that shook the granite foundations of the earth.
In the courtyard, Marcus was carrying Leo toward the safety of the armored vehicles. Leo looked back through the rain, his bright, innocent eyes searching through the open bronze doors of the crypt.
"Daddy?" Leo’s small voice called out into the darkness.

Inside the crypt, Julian stood frozen before the tomb of the woman he had loved, holding the paper that proved his entire life was a lie, his gun lowered, staring into the abyss of a conspiracy far darker than any empire he had ever conquered.
And from the shadows of the woods surrounding the cemetery, the headlights of six black, unmarked armored limousines suddenly flickered to life—engines roaring, blocking every single exit to the estate.
