Chapter 90 - The Leviathan's Final Awakening

Ten thousand volts of raw electricity tore through the saltwater on the floor plates.
The two guards screamed as the violent current surged through their armored suits, locking their muscles and blowing their tactical visors out in violent showers of blue sparks. They collapsed instantly, twitching uncontrollably as the high-voltage breaker blew, plunging the entire moonpool hangar into pitch-black darkness.
"Kill her!" Lucian’s voice screamed through the blackness, stripped of all aristocratic composure.
Red emergency klaxons began to wail, casting strobe flashes of crimson across the chaos. Automatic gunfire erupted, bullets ricocheting wildly off the titanium bulkheads.
Elena didn't hesitate. She grabbed the sidearm from the paralyzed guard's holster, fired two shots toward the sound of Lucian’s voice, and sprinted blindly through the shattered security doors into the heart of the central facility. Maya was crying now, the piercing wails of an infant echoing down the stark, sterile corridors.
"I’ve got you, Maya! I’ve got you!" Elena ran, her boots slipping on hydraulic oil, her lungs screaming for oxygen.
She burst through the heavy pressure doors onto a high, suspended catwalk overlooking the central abyss of the facility.
Below her, in an enormous, cathedral-sized subterranean hangar flooded with deep ocean water, lay the Master Unit. It wasn't just a fleet of drones. It was an ancient, gargantuan black submarine—a vessel three times the size of any naval craft on Earth, adorned with the Leviathan insignia.
Suddenly, all the lights in the entire fortress flared blinding white.
The automated voice of the base’s master artificial intelligence echoed over the loudspeakers, chilling Elena to the very core of her soul:
*"BIOMETRIC ACOUSTIC MATCH CONFIRMED. INFANT CRY PATTERN RECOGNIZED AS DIRECT MONTGOMERY HEIR."*
Elena froze on the catwalk, horrified.
Maya’s cries—the acoustic frequency of her unique infant vocal cord structure, transmitted through the facility's ambient surveillance microphones—had bypassed the need for a blood sample. Arthur had designed the failsafe to recognize his daughter’s voice.
*"LEVIATHAN AUTONOMOUS PROTOCOL ACTIVATED. NUCLEAR PAYLOAD ARMED. COMMENCING ASCENT TO SURFACE COORDINATES."*
Below the catwalk, the black water began to boil with terrifying violence. The massive dreadnought’s engines ignited with a low, earth-shaking rumble that shook the entire mountain. The massive underwater launch doors above the bay began to grind open, revealing the crushing, black void of the Pacific Ocean.

And across the catwalk, stepping out of the smoke with a bloodied face and a detonator in his hand, Lucian Montgomery smiled like a madman.
"You brought her here, Elena," Lucian whispered, his thumb resting over the red trigger of the facility's self-destruct mechanism. "Now neither of us is ever going home."
